Hi there!
Is anybody can help me in our situation.
My husband is a Canadian Citizen. We got married last March of 2007 and sponsored me.
Our application was sent a month right after we got married.
Last June of 2009 we received a letter coming from the CIC asking us the same documents that we submitted in 2007 plus some current updates like my husband income tax and health insurance which is I am a beneficiary or been declared.
We followed all the documents that they asked us to submit.
This October, we received a letter stating that our application was refused because we dont cohabit.
We were so devastated and hurt. The CIC is asking me to leave Canada as soon as possible.
My husband and I been married for almost 3 years and looking forward for this but we cannot understand why do they think we dont cohabit.
We seek the help from our MP and they told us that I should have submitted any documents that address under my name and should be the same address as my husband.
We told them we did. We did submitted a letter coming from our landlord as well as statement of account from our credit card which is I am a supplementary of my husband.
Beside that, we also submitted our marriage contract, and declared me on his income tax.
With regards to any mail address to me, Is it one prove of that is the CIC mail too which I received from them?
How can I get some other statement of account on my own knowing that I cannot possible work until this application is approved.
It hurt us so much because we been honest to our application but yet they refused our application.
One thing too, on our application, a child is included that will be affected as so much in this.
Please help us.
There is nothing there for me and my daughter from the country we came from.
My husband and I is so hurt and devastated on what the CIC decision.
Please help us and if there are additional information you can give us, please do so.
Thank you.

Are you living together? If yes, then a letter from the landlord and copy of documents that show that you live at the same address (copies of both of your driver licenses, copies of bill to his name and yours, for example) should do the trick.
You must prove CIC that you are a genuine couple. Which kind of information have you provided so far?
I am a little bit surprised your application was turned down, if you have been married and living together for 3 years.

Hi!yes of course we are. We submitted a letter from our landlord and a documents of our statement of account like credit cards and other document that shows that we are together. I dont have any driver licenses and some of the bills like the phone, cellphone, or internet is under my husband name because I dont have any SIN no. thats why I cannot apply on my own with regards to that and I guess the CIC should know that that people who dont have SIN cannot just apply for anything.
My husband and I were really really surprised and devastated and they just decided to refused without calling us for an interview. This is so tough for both of us and we hope that our appeal in the Federal Court will change the decision of the CIC.
We are thinking too how many couples who are legally married and not for convenience have been refused and yet how many people who are married and for convenience that were approved. This is crazy and so devastating.

I don't really understand CIC's decision. It would be really interesting to know what is the problem for them so that you can fight at the appeal.
If you did prove that you are living together, what are there grounds for refusal?

That we really dont understand too. What stated on the letter of refusal was we dont cohabit. Even though we submitted our document which I mentioned on my previous post. There were no explanation why the CIC just wrote that we dont cohabit together and that we are not under the spouse sponsorship act. Which is really false. This is such an eye opening to those couple of are applying within Canada. Specially knowing that they waited for almost 3 years. It is really devastating. We really dont know who can we seek more help. There should be a watchdog for the immigration because it seems that here, they made a big mistake.
