Interesting! They went quite fast on your application. I applied back in September 2013, received a notification that they started proceeding in January 2014. When do you think I should expect the test?

ATTENTION - CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE 2014

Here is my timeline.
I am from London - Ontario.

My process started in October of 2012, and I've got it back because it was missing proof of English. So, it took 8 months to get my process into the system.

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on June 26, 2013.
2. We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on June 26, 2013. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
3. We started processing your application on September 9, 2013.
4. We sent you a notice on January 10, 2014 to appear and write the citizenship test on January 29, 2014 at 9:30 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.
5. We sent you a notice on March 3, 2014 to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on March 25, 2014 at 9:15 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, pleasecontact us.
6. You became a Canadian citizen on March 25, 2014.

Much appreciated!

It might be longer in Quebec though. It looks like they have a lot of applicants these days.

Wait and see and looking forward to becoming CANADIAN.

Hello Rodman,

Thanks for your sharing! My dad is in exactly the same situation now, and i just wanna know how long did it take you from having the interview to taking the oath?

Thank you very much,

June

Hi everyone,

It's been two years since I applied for citizenship and I thought I would share my timeline.

- We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on February 13, 2012.

- We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on February 13, 2012. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

- We started processing your application on June 20, 2012.

I received a Residence Questionnaire sometime in July 2012 and submitted all the required documents within the 45-day
deadline.

I am now over 55 years old and thus, exempted from taking the citizenship test. Here's what I received from the St. Clair office:

- We sent you a notice on January 15, 2014 to attend an identification appointment to have your documents and identity verified on February 3, 2014 at 8:30 AM. The notice you will receive will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

Today (February 03), I went to the St. Clair office for my identification appointment. Everything went well. According to the Immigration Officer, my application along with the documents will go to a Citizenship Judge. Once my application is approved by the Citizenship Judge, I will receive within 2-3 months a Notice to Appear for Oath-taking. So now I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

If you are in the same situation, please feel free to update here.

Thank you and best wishes to you all.

Rodman

Dear Mafaz,
I read all of your posts and got some important information! I like to know, as a disable person the process might be longer? My status is : they got my application (with my wife and three minor daughters) February 3, 2014. Sent acknowledgement letter and Discover Canada book on February 3, 2014 and started processing my application on March 21, 2014. My two questions are : 1. My disability and living on ODSP income support will create any delay ? 2. If everything goes well then tentative how long it could take to get the test date? Note that a lot of my neighbours got test date within 2-3 months later after getting the acknowledgement letter & Discover Canada book ! I am observing that in very faster way now being processed ! could I expect test date by the end of July 2014 ? Eagerly looking to hearing from you.

Hello everyone.
Here is my timeline:
I sent the application in September 2013.
They started processing my application in December 2013.
I received a letter indicating that they needed some documents in January 2014.
I sent the documents in January 2014
No news since then, and I am waiting......
I found out that the timeline for applications being processed between January 2013 and December 2013 is normally 24 month.
Is there anyone with the same situation as mine ?

Thank you

If you were not allowed outside of Canada for vacations, it would negate the use of a PR Card, because that card value is only useful on entry to Canada , so a typical vacation once or twice a year would not count although you may be asked to defend it, would be unreasonable specially the current wait time to not expect family's to return home to visit loved ones for instance.

Hello June,

Sorry for the late response. That's about 2 1/2 months from my identification interview.

I had my oath-taking on May 26 and got my Canadian passport in June.

Hope this answers your question.
