Hi,

We are concerned about our timeline.

We submit our application to sponsor my spouse from within Canada in April 2014.

We received a letter in August 2014 to state that CIC had received our application.

We have not heard anything since then and we cannot access anything about the status through the online system or the call centre.

Tried to call the CIC Call Centre and the call was terminated.

Does anyone know if this timeline sounds normal or would it seem like there is a problem?

Does anyone else have a similar timeline? Have you heard anything?

Thanks in advance.

1. First level processing time is 16 months and they are working on applications received in Aug/13. So it will be a while before you hear anything.

It's far too early to have heard anything yet if your application was submitted in April and there's nothing to be concerned about. Your timelines are perfectly normal. The processing time for first stage is currently 16 months and CIC is currently working on applications received in August 2013. It's still going to be several months before you hear anything or will be able to see anything online.

You can see the processing times and which applications CIC is currently working on here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp
