Hi,
I am Foreign-trained Dentist and I'm studying for the Eligibility Exam. I already did the exam in Toronto and I pass the exam. However, my result from the exam was around 70% and to apply for the Qualifying Program - minimum is 80%. I didn't have right sourse-books to study for an exam.
I would like to ask somebody who finish the exam successfuly -what books or material he or she use for the exam. I do have list from the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry-(ACFD) but I'm looking for some other books-kind of short version from these books. List of books from ACDF is too long -around sixty books. That is why I would like to find -kind of summary for the exam.
Thank you in advance!

Hi Liliana, I'm preparing for the eligibility exam too, somebody advised me to read the dental decks part 2. maybe this will be helpful to you, they are almost comprehensive. Good luck.

Hi Liliana, I'm a dental surgeon practising in India and I've applied for immigration to Canada.I've learnt that I've to give an eligibility exam first, I've gone through their official website. But the information regarding exam proper is very vague. I came to know that you've some previous years' sample question & answer booklets (which you ordered from Chicago). I would be greatful if you wrote to me the names of those booklelt & information on how & where to order them. Thank you so much. neel

Dear Sir, I am a Dental Graduate from ,India, and my degree being “Bachelor of Dental Surgery” a four-year fulltime university course. Very recently I have obtained Permanent resident visa of Canada and I am thinking of moving to Canada by the beginning of year 2007.
I have got my qualifications evaluated before coming to Canada. This evaluation has been carried out by the‘ Comparative Education Services’, University of Toronto, stating that,” We would consider Dr.Chattopadhyay’s degree to be comparable in level to a Bachelor’s degree, specializing in Medical Science / Dentistry, from a reputable Canadian University”
Keeping in view above can you kindly tell me the right way to proceed and make a career in Dentistry in Canada. Considering I would be in Canada with only the stipulated amount of money, which an immigrant is supposed to bring with him, shall I be entitled to any sort of financial assistance or study loans. Is it possible here to earn and study at the same time. On account of my degrees do I get exempted from any courses. Please suggest me a career considering my degrees as well as my financial background. Actually from here I am not able to gauge the difficulty in passing those exams (eligibility exam for foreign dentists), i.e. the normal level of competition present etc. Besides if possible please suggest me the usual trends among foreign dentists regarding their careers in Canada.
I shall be very thankful if you can answer the queries spending much of your valuable time.
Yours truly, J.Chattopadhyay

Hi J,
I m also a dentist and lookin at attempting the Eligibility exam in Canada, Do you have any idea on success probability of the exam? What are the challenges we can face to goin ahead in the Dental direction in Canada?
Is it worth doing a Post Graduate course in Canada to begin with? I ve this and a whole lot of other questions , hope you will be able to share any information you may have,
Can you also tell me what is the meaning of the evaluation you received? Does this mean we need to take up the exam anyways, do teh qualifying programme if we re to practise?
Thanks
MJ

HI ... i recently gave EE for the first time (23 sep 2006) and i am not really satisfied with the way it went. It was all oral pathology and it was dissapointing as i had prepared all the subjects. I dont know what to expect out of this exam. Please do share.
