    • Student Legal Aid Clinics to Offer More ServicesMore funding has been announced for Ontario’s Student Legal Aid Clinics. These clinics offer services to eligible low-income individuals. Additional services in select clinics will include employment, housing, consumer and criminal law.

    • New Measures in Place for Syrian and Iraqi Refugee SponsorshipCitizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has put new measures in place so that Syrian and Iraqi refugees can be sponsored more quickly. Now refugees from Syria and Iraq sponsored through the Group of Five program don’t need proof of refugee status.

    • Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)Canada has introduced a new entry requirement, known as an eTA, for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. Travellers can now apply online for an eTA with the requirement becoming mandatory March 15, 2016.

    • Donation Matching Through the Syria Emergency Relief FundIf you donate to eligible charities that support responses to the Syrian conflict, the Government of Canada will match this donation. The Government will match donations of up to $100,000 through the Syria Emergency Relief Fund until December 31, 2015.

    • New Licensing Application Service for NursesInternationally Educated Nurses (IENs) can now apply to be licensed to practice in Canada through a new streamlined process. The National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) now offers a single, national online application process.

    • Changes to Ontario’s Student Aid Program (OSAP)Changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) are now in place, making the program more flexible and allowing more students to access financial aid. Among other changes, student aid is now indexed to inflation.
