New Law on Equal Recognition for All Parents and Children in Ontario

Wednesday, November 30, 2016

In recognition of our diverse society, the Ontario Government has passed a new law to recognize the legal status of all parents and children alike.

The All Families are Equal Act, 2016 will come into force January 1, 2017, and will protect the rights of parents that are straight, as well as, parents who belong to the LGBTQ+ community.  This includes recognizing the legal status of all parents and their children, regardless of whether they have used methods of assisted reproduction or not.

You can find more information on your rights as a member of the LGBTQ+ community on Settlement.Org.
