Starting August 31st, 2017 Canadians will be able to mark their sex as X (unspecified) when applying for their passports. Interim measures will be in place until Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is able to print documents with an X. The X designation will help people who do not identify as either female or male to obtain passports and other government documents.
