World Consumer Rights Days

The Ontario government is reminding everyone of the recent consumer protection laws they have passed. On World Consumer Rights Day, March 15, the Ontario government listed a few of the consumer protections that have recently become law:

• Rewards points do not expire based only on time
• New maximum fees for payday loans
• Towing and storage companies must tell drivers their prices and where their vehicle is stored
• Wireless service contracts must include language that is easier to understand
• Travel advertisements must include all taxes and fees
