Drive Safely This Family Day Weekend

Thursday, February 12, 2015

As you drive with family and friends this Family Day weekend, you should remember to keep everyone to stay safe. Here are some tips to help:

  • One person, one seat belt: Make sure that each passenger has their own seat belt and that everyone is wearing a working seat belt.
  • Hands on the wheel, eyes on the road: Focus on the road and avoid distractions. Don't text and drive.
  • Keep children safe and secure: Always ensure child car seats are installed correctly before strapping your child in.
  • Remember it's still winter: Give yourself extra time and adjust your driving to road and weather conditions. Call 511 or visit ontario.ca/511 for current highway conditions.
  • Be Preparedget your vehicle ready with a maintenance check-up. Have a winter driving survival kit in your vehicle and always be sure to clear all snow and ice from your windshield, headlights and rear and signal lights.
