Mexican Visitors Will No Longer Require Visas

Thursday, June 30, 2016

The Canadian government has announced that it will remove the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) requirement for Mexican visitors beginning December 1, 2016. Until the visa requirement has been removed, Mexican citizens who want to visit Canada must still apply for their TRV.

If you are planning to visit Canada before December 1st, you can apply for your visitor's visa online. If you are planning to come after December 1st, you will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) instead, that can also be completed online. The eTA will be valid for 5 years, whereas the TRV is valid for only 6 months.

If you are planning to work or study in Canada, you still need to get a work or study permit before coming to Canada.
