Burning Firewood Responsibly

Thursday, August 11, 2016

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is reminding the public to protect the trees when travelling to cottages and campgrounds. It is important that you do not move firewood from its original environment.

If you cut a tree to use the firewood, be sure to not move it from one area to another since this can cause the spreading of pests. Pests are destructive insects that can attack trees and other plants.

To avoid any damages in forests and other natural grounds, you can buy or cut wood locally in the area where you will be burning it. You can learn more on this topic from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s website.
