New Moves: An Orientation Video for Newcomer Students features
14 youth talking about their adjustment to school in Canada and
what helped them be successful. The youth talk about the differences
in behaviour expectations, teaching methods and communicating with teachers
and other students. The students' voices are complemented by the comments
of school administrators and dynamic images of life in Canadian schools.
Frameline Productions produced the video for the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program, a school-based settlement program in 6 Ontario communities, funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Ontario Region.
The video is available in DVD format in English, French, Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Farsi, Filipino, Gujarati, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tamil and Urdu.
