New Hotline Launched to Protect Temporary Foreign Workers
A confidential hotline has been created to help Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW) get answers about their rights, both under the federal program and at work. The hotline is a toll-free number 1-888-366-0194.

Canada Apprentice Loans Now Available
New interest-free loans are now available for apprentices in designated Red Seal trades. Eligible individuals can receive $4000 for each period of technical training.

New Trans Helpline
Canada now has a helpline for transgender people in crisis. The service is free and offers counselling from transgender volunteers. To use the service, you can call 1-877-330-6366.

Express Entry System Now in Effect
Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Express Entry system is now in effect. You will need to create a profile in this system if you are interested in applying to the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades or Canadian Experience Class programs.

New Smoking Bans in 2015
Starting January 1, 2015 smoking will not be allowed in restaurant or bar patios in Ontario. It will also be banned on children’s playgrounds and public sports areas. In addition, tobacco products will not be sold on college or university campuses.
