ACCIDENT REPORT
On September 15, 1999, I was driving my green 1998 Ford Escort
northbound on Warden Avenue at approximately 1:20 a.m. I was travelling
at the speed limit of 50 km per hour. It rained earlier in the evening
so the roads were a bit wet but the rain had stopped by the time the
accident occurred.
I stopped for a red light at the intersection of Warden and
Ellesmere. While I was waiting for the light to change, I noticed a
truck coming towards me from behind and its high beams were on. The
truck was travelling very fast and I remember thinking that it didnt
look as if it was going to stop. I heard the squeal of the trucks
brakes but it was too late. The truck couldnt stop. It hit me from
behind and pushed my car into the middle of the intersection. At that
moment, a white Neon was coming westbound on Ellesmere and hit the
passenger side of my car. Luckily I was alone in the car and no one was
sitting in that seat.
I was taken to Scarborough General Hospital where I was treated for
cuts to my face from the broken windshield and whiplash. The doctor said
I will have to be off work for at least a month. My car is a write-off.
