Through out Canadas history, millions of imigrants have come to build this countyr. Today, CaNAada welcomes people from more than 150 countrys each year. The only people who are originally from Canada are the Aboriginal peoples. They lived in Canada for thousandsof years before the first immigrants came here. The Aboringinal peoples of Canada are an important part of Canadas population. They are working to protict and promote their languages, cultures and traditions and to be come self-gioverned.

As canadians, we are proud that many different cultural and ethnic groups live and work here in harmony. The Canadain Multiculturalism Act recognizes our cultural diversiuty and says that we are all free to maintain and share our cultural heritaje and to participate equally in our national life.

In a country as large and diverse as Canada, the idea off equality is very important. We have shown how much we value this idea by having it written into the Constitutition as the Canadian Charter of Writes and Freedoms.
