- You are an information officer at a library. You assist the library
patrons in locating information both at the library and on the Internet.
Tina and David are library assistants. Part of your job is to help Tina and
David to place the books back on the shelves. Tina is afraid of heights. She
never places books on the higher shelves; she leaves them for you or David
to shelve. In addition, she does not return from breaks on time. You feel
that Tina doesnt do her share of the work.
How can you get Tina to do her share of work?
- You work on an assembly line putting together computer parts. You work on
this line with five other assemblers. The inspection officer checks the
assemblers works at the end of each shift for quality control. If some
parts are not put together correctly, the inspection officer puts the
assembled pieces aside. You cannot leave until all the defective pieces have
been reassembled. Sometimes the assemblers have to stay extra hours to
reassemble the computers if too many mistakes have occurred. Lately, the
inspection officer has been finding many computers that need to be
reassembled.
How can you get the team to work together cooperatively in order to solve
this problem?
- You work as an administrative assistant for a big shipping company. Your
job involves receiving shipping orders from clients all over the province.
You need to make sure that the orders are shipped on time. When an order
comes in, you check the inventory on your database to make sure that the
requested item is in stock and then pass it on to the warehouse. The
warehouse people have to prepare the item in time for shipping. Your company
has built a reputation on prompt delivery and your clients rely on their
shipments being received as promised. Lately, you have noticed that the
items are not ready for shipping on time. You have mentioned it to the
warehouse people a few times but they shrugged it off.
How do you handle this situation?
