Fort Erie Multicultural Centre
Multicultural Centre provides settlement, language and skills training to meet the needs of Immigrants and Refugees living or in transition in the community of Fort Erie.
Peace Bridge Newcomer Centre (located at the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie) provides information and hospitality services for refugee claimants on their day of arrival; assistance with shelter and destination referrals across Ontario and Canada; assistance with family connections, information/orientation to procedures associated with the refugee claim process in Canada
Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada, age 17 and older - (Literacy and Levels 1-7); ESL (English as a Second Language) in partnership with Niagara Catholic District School Board (St John's South Campus in Fort Erie is located at 54 Jarvis Street, two doors from F.E. Multicultural Centre)
Community Connections Program (formerly HOST Program) - group activities for newly arrived immigrants and refugees of all ages to welcome newcomers to the community and promote community engagement; help to establish social and professional networks; trained volunteers assist with focus on citizenship, civic engagement and career development; Youth leisure, sport and recreation programs in partnership with Canadian Tire Jumpstart.
Settlement Program - services to enable immigrants and refugees to integrate successfully into Canadian society including information and referral, assistance with housing and furniture setup, assistance with transportation and navigating the community (e.g. where to shop, find a doctor, dentist, library, register for school etc.); problem solving and supportive counselling around migration adjustment issues, help with immigration procedures, documents, filings, forms and applications, access to legal aid, legal services and immigration consultation services, assistance with notarization of original documents and language translation
