Reduced Citizenship Application Fees for Minors

Friday, February 23, 2018

If you are a minor (under 18 years of age) applying for citizenship without a parent, you will now pay $100 instead of $530 for your application.

In June of last year, there was a legislative amendment that removed the requirement to be 18 years old to apply for citizenship to Canada. The new fee will ensure that there is no difference to the citizenship application fees for minors whether you have a Canadian parent, are a permanent resident parent, or applying on your own.

If you paid the $530 on or after June 19, 2017, you will be reimbursed $430. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will contact you directly to outline the process for getting a refund.
