Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will accept up to 30,000 additional applications for 2021.
Potential sponsors who have already submitted an interest in 2020 will also be sent invitations. Invitations to apply will be sent out in September 2021.
The income requirements for sponsorship remain in place, however, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC will allow regular Employment Insurance (EI) and temporary COVID benefits, such as the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) to be included towards the sponsor’s income.
