The Accessibility Directorate of Ontario will be hosting nine community forums across the province to celebrate the steps Ontario has taken on its accessibility journey. The theme of the forums is, “Accessibility: Honouring the Past, Showcasing the Present and Inspiring the Future.”

In 2017, Ontario will commemorate its 150th anniversary. The forums will highlight and celebrate how communities across Ontario have come together to be more accessible and inclusive. We look forward to hearing your stories.

Who Should Attend

  • Ontarians interested in accessibility for people with disabilities

  • Members of municipal Accessibility Advisory Committees and municipal staff who work with and support them

  • Community organizations and businesses that provide services or support to people with disabilities

What To Expect

The forums will provide a legislative update on the progress that the province is making in implementing the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and making Ontario accessible. You will also have an opportunity to network with your peers and colleagues.

Jim Kyte, a former National Hockey League player with a profound hearing disability, will be the keynote speaker. He is a noted motivational speaker and Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism at Algonquin College. Other accessibility champions will also share success stories and personal perspectives of accessibility.
