to 5:00 PM
YMCA Newcomer Information Centre invites you to a workshop: Diversity and Social Inclusion.
It has been said that, “the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members”. Canadian society recognizes and values diversity and social inclusion as an important part of the foundation of what Canada represents – a nation where people of all diverse backgrounds are welcome and included. This belief is enshrined within Canadian constitution and amounts to equal rights and opportunities for all without discrimination. As a new immigrant, it is important to understand diversity from a Canadian perspective and to learn about the daily lives of vulnerable populations in Canada as part of your settlement process.
Diversity and Social Inclusion is the third workshop in Let’s Talk About It! an eight week series that introduces participants to many of the aspects that make up Canada’s unique culture and society. By taking part, newcomers can expect a boost in self-confidence and a greater sense of belonging in Canada.
