Changes to Refugee Services from Legal Aid Ontario

Friday, March 21, 2014

Starting March 24, 2014, all refugees applying for legal aid services provided by Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) will have to first call LAO's Client Service Centre (CSC).

To apply, you can call LAO's CSC at 1-800-668-8258 (toll-free) or 416-979-1446 in Toronto. Their service hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can get legal aid help in more than 200 languages.

If you are eligible for legal aid, you will be referred to the Refugee Law Office in Toronto, the Integrated Legal Services Office in Ottawa, or the Hamilton District office. Staff there will contact you within 48 hours to schedule an appointment to discuss your case.

If you need help contacting LAO's CSC, you can visit one of their offices in person. There, you can get help with your legal aid application.

For more information, you can visit the Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) website.
