High-Occupancy Toll Lanes to Open September 2016

Friday, June 24, 2016
Ontario is launching Canada’s first High-Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes on the QEW between Oakville and Burlington to decrease congestion on the highway.

You will have the option to drive on the High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes if there are more than two people in the car, or you can participate in a draw to purchase a permit that will give you access to drive on the new High-Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes even if you are a single occupant driver.

You can apply for a permit from Service Ontario from August 1 to August 21, 2016. A limited number of applicants will be selected from the draw to purchase the permit.

HOT lanes will be open for those who obtain a permit on September 15, 2016.
