Changes to Express Entry

Thursday, April 6, 2017

Starting June 6, 2017, Express Entry requirements and rankings will change.

Express Entry candidates are assessed through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). CRS points are awarded based on a candidate's professional and personal background. Candidates with the highest rankings are invited to apply for permanent residency.

Additional points will be awarded to candidates who have:

  • Strong French skills and/or bilingual language abilities
  • A brother or sister living in Canada who is a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident

Also, Express Entry candidates will no longer have to register for the Job Bank.

You can find a full description of the changes on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website (IRCC).
