Reinstating Renewal Requirements for Driver’s Licences, Plate Stickers & OHIP Cards
Thursday, September 2, 2021
Ontario is reinstating renewal requirements for driver’s licences, licence plate stickers, Ontario Photo Cards, Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) cards, and other products that may have expired on or after March 1, 2020. These products were extended to provide immediate relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you need to renew your documents, you are encouraged to use ServiceOntario’s online option.
To ensure you have enough time to renew, the deadlines for most driver’s licences, licence plate stickers, and Ontario Photo Cards and OHIP cards are extended until February 28, 2022.
Heavy commercial vehicle owners and those holding a "novice class" G1, G2, M1 or M2 licence, have different deadlines for renewal. For a complete list of renewal deadlines, please visit Ontario.ca/RenewalDeadlines.
If you need to visit in person, enhanced health and safety measures are in place at ServiceOntario centres and more than 40 ServiceOntario centres offer appointment booking.
