Support for Families Experiencing Separation or Divorce

If you are experiencing separation or divorce, the Government of Canada has resources to help you resolve family issues out of court.

The Department of Justice Canada offers a Supporting Families Fund to provincial and municipal governments to develop family justice programs and services. These programs and services encourage people to follow through with obligations after the divorce, such as child support.

You also have access to free resources such as:

• A parenting guide, checklist and tool with sample clauses to help you set up a workable parenting plan for the wellbeing of your child,
• A guide and an online table for reference on amount of child support needed,
• A booklet and calendar to help your child adjust to new changes in the family.
