Faster PR Processing for Caregivers and their Families

Friday, December 8, 2017

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that the backlog for applicants in the Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP) will be mostly gone by the end of 2018.

If you have applied for permanent residency for yourself or your family through the Live-in Caregiver program, your application should be processed by December 2018.

IRCC says it is committing to:

  • Finalizing at least 80% of the cases that were in the LCP inventory as of October 1, 2017 by December 31, 2018;
  • Processing 80% of new LCP applications submitted on or after October 1, 2017 within 12 months; and
  • Admitting high numbers of LCP caregivers and their family members as permanent residents.

You can find more information about applying for permanent residence through the Live-in Caregiver Program online.
