Where can I find support groups for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, or asexual (LGBTQIA+) newcomers?
If you are new to Ontario you may want to connect with other newcomers who also identify as LGBTQIA+. You may want to find a community group specifically for LGBTQIA+ newcomers. You don’t have to be openly out to join these kinds of groups.

Meeting new people in your community not only helps you engage and enjoy your new environment, but it can also help you with other aspects of your life such as the job search.

Can I volunteer to get Canadian experience?
Volunteer work is an excellent way to gain Canadian experience and Canadian references. There are also many other benefits to volunteering in your community.
What are my rights and responsibilities as a volunteer?
It is important for you to know what you are committing to when you volunteer. Ask the volunteer centre or organization you are working for what they expect from you and what they can offer you.
