YMCA Newcomer Information Centre invites you to a series of workshops: Connecting Dots to Employment - You are Your Own Brand - Workshop VI.

You Are Your Own Brand is the sixth workshop in Connecting the Dots to Employment, a pre-employment workshop series that exposes you to different considerations during your job hunt, other than your resume and cover letter. The series will help you explore your own assets while understanding your tolerance for change; you will learn about the inner workings of the workplace while acquiring new tools for communicating with others. You will recognize your uniqueness and learn how to make online platforms work for you.

What is your brand? In the world we live in today, there is increasing emphasis on personal branding, especially online. Employers are now using social media tools in order to filter applicants before offering them interviews. They will search applicants’ Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn accounts to conduct background checks. If you need help figuring out the brand you want to sell, then this is the workshop for you.

Topics include:

  • What is a personal brand?
  • How to market yourself and develop a self-pitch
  • Effectively developing, communicating and managing your brand
  • Helpful self-marketing tactics

Registration is required.
