Description

The YMCA Newcomer Information Centre invites newcomers to a workshop: Let's Talk about It! Workshop II - Self-Image.

A person's self-image is the mental picture he/she has of him/herself that has been learned by that person about him/herself, either from personal experiences or by internalizing the judgments of others. Although we may not be able to control how others perceive us, we can control what we present to them.

Self-Image is the second workshop in Let’s Talk About It! a series that introduces participants to many of the aspects that make up Canada’s unique culture and society. By taking part, newcomers can expect a boost in self-confidence and a greater sense of belonging in Canada.

Topics:

  • Understanding self-image
  • Recognizing signs of low and high self-esteem and tips on how to improve it
  • Personal style and dress codes
  • Personal hygiene and practicing good hygiene in public
  • Becoming self-aware of body language and eye contact
