Scadding Court Community Centre invites you to Skills to Thrive: A 12-week program designed specifically for women overcoming gender-based violence.

This free initiative by the Scadding Court Community Centre and Toronto Metropolitan University's (TMU) Diversity Institute. It is specifically designed as a "bridge" for women overcoming gender-based violence (GBV) to reclaim their independence through workforce reintegration.

Program Overview:

  • Weeks 1–4: Professional development (digital skills, financial literacy, job readiness, and career coaching)
  • Weeks 5–12: Hands-on training in a chosen stream, with an honorarium

Streams (choose one)

  • Urban Agriculture: Gardening, harvesting, and market sales
  • Catering: Cooking, food safety, and event prep
  • Sewing: Sewing, repairs, and design

What You Get:

  • Practical work experience + career support
  • GBV-informed workshops (boundaries, safety, well-being)
  • Free childminding and transit tokens
