Scadding Court Community Centre invites you to Skills to Thrive: A 12-week program designed specifically for women overcoming gender-based violence.
This free initiative by the Scadding Court Community Centre and Toronto Metropolitan University's (TMU) Diversity Institute. It is specifically designed as a "bridge" for women overcoming gender-based violence (GBV) to reclaim their independence through workforce reintegration.
Program Overview:
- Weeks 1–4: Professional development (digital skills, financial literacy, job readiness, and career coaching)
- Weeks 5–12: Hands-on training in a chosen stream, with an honorarium
Streams (choose one)
- Urban Agriculture: Gardening, harvesting, and market sales
- Catering: Cooking, food safety, and event prep
- Sewing: Sewing, repairs, and design
What You Get:
- Practical work experience + career support
- GBV-informed workshops (boundaries, safety, well-being)
- Free childminding and transit tokens
