Faster Processing Times for High-Skilled Workers
Tuesday, June 13, 2017
Through the Federal Government’s Global Skills Strategy it will now be easier for employers to sponsor high-skilled workers to come to Canada. Under the new policies, high-skilled workers who come to Canada on a temporary work basis will now have their applications processed in two weeks.
The two week processing time will also apply to the open work and study permits for high-skilled workers’ spouses and dependents.
The strategy also includes two new work permit categories for;
- high-skilled workers working in Canada for 15 or 30 days, and
- researchers coming to Canada for 120 days
Ontario has recently made changes to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, expanding the number of applicants it accepts and creating new application streams.
Settlement.Org has an article on how to come to Canada as a temporary foreign worker.
