Faster Processing of Spousal Sponsorship Applications

Thursday, December 8, 2016

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has created a backgrounder on changes in how they handle spousal sponsorship applications. This includes information on:

  • Faster processing times.
  • Shorter wait periods for applications.
  • Improvements to the application process.
  • A commitment to a 12-month processing time.

The government also announced a 1-year extension of a pilot program to provide eligible spouses and partners work permits while they wait for their applications to be processed.
