How to Access Free LinkedIn Learning Licenses for Ontario Job Seekers

Wednesday, December 8, 2021

The Government of Ontario with LinkedIn are offering free online trainings and resources to help prepare Ontarians for their careers.

In a partnership with First Work - Ontario Youth Employment Network, and the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, LinkedIn is offering 100,000 free licenses to Linkedin Learning.  If you’re living in Ontario, and are 16 years and older, you are eligible to register for this free service that will be offered until March 22, 2022.

You will gain access to job-search insights such as:

  • Realtime local labour market and employer data.
  • Jobs and skills most in-demand locally.
  • Identifying potential new employers.
  • Soft skills demanded by the workforce today.
  • Over 16,000 courses available to download and watch from your mobile device or desktop.

The online tool provides convenient, accessible, education modules, labour market insights, and recruiting products to help Ontarians find and secure jobs that will aid in the province’s economic recovery. According to First Work’s Executive Director, Akosua Alagaratnam, Ontario is facing an 8.4% unemployment rate and skills mismatch in the labourforce. Through this partnership, the province is taking action to close the unemployment gap by rapidly “upskilling” the workforce and increasing the capacity of employment service providers.

LinkedIn Learning provides the skills-based learnings jobseekers need while expanding their networks, bringing unemployed individuals closer to the labour market, and ultimately increasing successful employment outcomes.
