Abuse is Wrong in Any Language

This booklet is for people new to Ontario who are suffering from abuse in a relationship or in a family. If you know someone who is abused, give them this booklet. Ask them if they want help. They may need your support. Tell them they are not alone.

As a new immigrant to Ontario, you may feel alone. You may have trouble talking with people and have feelings of shame. If you are being abused, you may be afraid for yourself or your children. But you don't have to suffer in silence because there are many resources available to help you.

What you will learn about in this booklet:

  • Different types of abuse
  • Underage and forced marriage sexual abuse
  • What is intimate partner violence, elder abuse and child abuse?
  • Staying or leaving
  • Who can help?
