It's important to be aware of your rights as a consumer of health care services. Professional associations, industry and patient advocacy groups exist to promote the rights of patients in specific areas of health care.

If you are a danger to yourself or to others, a doctor may, by law, make you stay in the hospital. You may also be forced to take medication. During this time, you have the right to a lawyer.
