How can one-on-one employment services help me?
Every settlement agency in Ontario can give you some help to get started in your job search. They may have the job search program you want, an employment counsellor on site, or they can help you find the program that is right for you.
Contact a settlement agency to find out more about their services and what they can do for you. Some employment-specific programs might have eligibility criteria for you to use them.
Another great, free resource in most communities is assisted and self-service employment services. These community agencies offer:
- Help from staff who know the Canadian job market
- Computers for your résumé and cover letters
- Photocopiers and fax machines
- Daily newspapers and job postings
- Job listings on the internet
- And much more
Some agencies have group programs, but they also have "self-help" resources - such as computers, webinars, books, manuals, how-to guides - that you can use in your job search.
