How can mentoring programs help me?
In mentoring programs, a mentor will work one-on-one with you to help you achieve your employment goals while you are seeking work.
You might learn about job search techniques, get assistance with your résumé, improve your interview skills and expand your network of contacts.
The main idea behind mentoring is that if you can find someone who is already successful in your career area in Ontario, they can help you to understand what you need to do to be successful, too. There is no work placement in this type of program, but you will learn one-on-one from someone who can help you with your very specific needs.
Some agencies offer a service based on a 3-way partnership between the agency, internationally-trained professionals and Canadians working in your career area. You will generally need to be "job-ready," have adequate English skills and be referred to these programs.
